The Ultimate Guide to Mortis

The Ultimate Guide to Mortis

Hi, Brawlers! I am Worldpeece and today we will be talking about a character who is different from all the rest, Mortis. In this guide, we will be covering all stats about Mortis, and tips about how to use him in game modes.

Mortis is different from the other brawlers because instead of attacking regularly, he dashes forward with his shovel, essentially teleporting. This attack is useful in so many ways, and we will get into this later in the article.

Stats

Mortis is an original brawler in Brawl stars, who was released when the game went into beta. He is one of the 2 mythic brawlers, along with Tara. He costs 200 chips to unlock.

His History

Nerf Neither Buff

On June 22, 2017 his dash range was reduced by 25%

On August 11, 2017, his health was decreased to 700 from 800

On September 4, 2017, his rarity was changed to Mythic from Epic

On September 14, 2017, his fast was decreased to 650 from 750 and his super range was decreased to 10 tiles from 13.34 tiles

His Abilities

Mortis has 2 abilities, one regular and one super attack. His regular attack charges slowly, and his super attack charges after 6 hits.

Attack: Shovel Swing

“Mortis creates business opportunities for himself by dashing forward with a sharp swing of his shovel” This attack propels Mortis forward about 2.5 tiles, which is great for escaping enemies. This attack makes Mortis one of the most mobile brawlers in the game.

You can use this attack to easily escape from a brawler who is pursuing you, or use it to quickly assassinate a brawler. Do not be too aggressive, and I recommend you use 2 attacks to attack an enemy, and the other 1 attacks to escape.

Super: Life Blood

“Mortis calls forward a swarm of vampire bats that drain the health of enemies while restoring his. Creepy!” This attack restores as much health as it does damage. For example, if you had a maxed Life Blood, you would deal 250 Damage for every brawler you hit with Life Blood, and you would gain 250 health for every brawler you hit with lifeblood.

The Last attack was Life Blood

How To Use Mortis In Every Gamemode

Mortis is satisfactory in bounty. In bounty, you will want to hide in bushes, and wait until an unsuspecting brawler walks by. Then attack. In the beginning, use your attacks to try to get the star in the middle, as every star counts. Then lie in the bushes, and wait for unsuspecting foes.

Play aggressively when you are losing or do not have many stars, and play conservative when you have many stars and/or are winning. Overall, Mortis is not the best in bounty.

Heist is one of the worst game modes for Mortis. If you are on offense, try to kill enemy players to charge your super, and either go around or wait until one of your team breaks the wall leading to the safe. If there is nobody around when you are near the safe, use all 3 attacks on the safe.

If you are being pressured, use 2 attacks on the safe and 1 attack to escape out of danger, and recharge your attacks again. If you are being pressured, use 2 attacks on the safe and 1 attack to escape out of danger, and recharge your attacks again.

Try not to use your super on the safe, because it is a waste. Only use your super on the safe if it is a matter of winning or losing. On defense, use pressure and always try to kill the team before they get near the safe. Use your dashes to get distracted and hurt, maybe even kill, enemies before they get close.

As a character who does not do long range, always try to be in the middle of the fight. Remember, there is no penalty for dying. A good rule of thumb is that you should push up if there is no one around until you can’t see the safe, and damage enemies as they come from spawn. This way, if you die, you will still have time to defend the safe as they will have gotten to it in the time it took you to respawn.

Mortis excels in Smash and Grab. At the beginning of the game, use your dashes to dash up to the gem mine and gather the crystals, and then fall back into the bushes. Never be aggressive in Smash and Grab, since your role is the gem carrier. Sit in the bushes and dash in, collect the crystal, and dash out. The only time you should be aggressive is when the enemy team is on their countdown.

A good rule of thumb is to never attack enemies with more than double your attack. For example, if my Mortis did 200 Damage, I would attack someone with 400 health, but not 401. When your team is on the countdown, drop back all the way to your spawn, unless your teammates are still fighting, and in that case support them if they die.

When playing Mortis in showdown, you can very easily steal powerups from enemies as they destroy the boxes. Lie in wait, and as the enemy is breaking the box, swoop in, take the power up, and swoop out. This can take practice, but if you are good at it, you can win. Try to team in showdown whenever you can, because it increases your odds of winning. Be wary of Shelly and

Try to team in showdown whenever you can, because it increases your odds of winning. Be wary of Shelly and Bull however, because if you team with them they can very easily backstab you with 2 shots. Never try to kill a Shelly unless you have to. Shelly is a hard counter to Mortis, and unless you can kill her in 2 shots, don’t try to kill her.

Team with characters like Dynamike, Barley, Mortis, and other characters that do not have much health, because they will be more reluctant in backstabbing you. All in all, if the character you’re teaming with does massive damage up close, you probably shouldn’t team with them.

In Brawl Ball, use Mortis as an offensive player, getting the ball, kicking it forward and dashing to it. If you do this, you can easily score goals passing by the enemies. A few days ago, I saw a post that defines this perfectly. This video shows exactly how to play Mortis in brawl ball. I recommend watching it if you would like to see a great example.
